In 1994, Mary Nelson developed this treatment, combining the use of hot basalt and cool marble stones with some of the energetic principles of the Native American Indian traditions to create a deeply therapeutic way of working with massage. The use of heated and cooled stones equates to Geo Thermal Therapy – an ancient healing art form that is currently scientifically proven and medically approved.
The use of alternating temperatures on many areas of the body creates a form of ‘vascular gymnastics’ for the circulatory system, invigorating the tissues and promoting the removal of toxins. It also gives sore and tired muscles a form of passive exercise which is experienced as soothing and restorative. Combined with the energetic properties of the stones, this is a profoundly therapeutic treatment, helping the body to motivate its own healing resources and restore balance.
La Stone Massage
Throughout the treatment, stones are placed under and on the body as well as used as the medium for the massage. Oil is used to facilitate the massage and the alternating heated and cooled stones have a profoundly relaxing and toning effect on the muscles. It is said that one stroke with the stones is worth at least two with the hands, so that this is a form of therapy that can go deeply more quickly, with no pain or stress to the body.
La Stone Facial
A facial with a difference. Stones are placed on and under the body for the duration of the treatment. Cleansing and toning is followed by a neck, shoulder and face massage using hot and cold stones. Whilst the mask is on, you can enjoy a lower leg and feet or a forearm and hand stone massage; toning and moisturising to finish. A deeply relaxing treatment with the added benefit of the lovely Liz Earle products. Bliss.
